Ski Retreat Info
Students from WVU will be joining other RUF students from NYU and Delaware State University (contingent on COVID and the Lord’s will) for a weekend of skiing, snow tubing, and fun at the Shawnee Mountain Ski Area in PA! We will be staying at the beautiful Club Wyndham Shawnee Village Townhomes, which accomodate 6-8 people each. They have two bathrooms, two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living area. In addition, we also have free access to the indoor gym, swimming pool, arcade room, and more.
We will leave Friday afternoon/evening as early as possible and arrive Friday night (it’s a long drive). We will spend Saturday skiiing/snowtubing/hanging out. Saturday evening we plan to have dinner with the other RUFs and a short large group meeting. On Sunday morning, we will pack up and leave in the morning, attend Peter’s home church, which is on the way home, have lunch there, and hope to arrive home Sunday in the later afternoon.
RUF at WVU will cover the cost of lodging (about $100/person). Your registration cost covers three meals, gas, and your ticket to Shawnee Mountain. You can select the “Indoor Events Only” option if you just want to come, hang out, play in the gym or go swimming, and watch a movie or do homework in the townhome (you can always purchase a snow tubing or skiing pass on your own at a later date, but prices may price and availability isn’t guaranteed). The “Snow Tubing” option includes a ticket for 1.5 hours of snowtubing on Saturday. The “Ski” option includes a lift ticket for skiing all day Saturday. You will need to either bring your own ski equipment, or rent it from the WVU Rec Center. The cost of ski rentals from the Rec for the weekend is $24.50.
Bring money for Saturday dinner ($20ish) and if you plan to eat on the road Friday evening or Sunday evening (we plan to be back in time for dinner Sunday evening, but just in case).
Saturday and Sunday breakfast will be provided by RUF at WVU and cooked together in the townhomes. Saturday lunch will also be provided by RUF at WVU in our townhomes.
COVID: All students must be fully vaccinated OR receive a negative COVID test 1-3 days prior to departure. Also, we expect students to mask up during indoor activities with students from other schools. Any student that needs to miss because of COVID exposure or a positive COVID test will receive a full refund.
